Shriyanka wins silver in Asian shooting meet

Odisha girl Shriyanka Sadangi won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle women junior team category of the12th Asian Shooting Championship at Doha yesterday. The Indian team, comprising Shriyanka, Shalini Chahar and Neha Milind Sapte finished second with 1179 points, while Chine took the gold with 1173 points.

Daughter of Col S C Sadangi and Sudha Sadangi of Sambalpur, 17-year-old Shriyanka was the best performer among the Indian trio with a total score of 394 points (98+100+98+98). A trainee of the Gun for Glory Institute at Pune and sponsored by ONGC, Shriyanka won a gold medal in the 10m air rifle team event of the Asian Airgun Championship at Kuwait earlier last year.

She also represented India in the 50th ISSF World Shooting Championship at Munich, Germany in 2010 and various other international shooting championships. Representing Haryana in the national circuit, Shriyanka has bagged three bronze medals in different National championships so far.
